"I'd gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread I had to eat
I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinkin'
Let me show you what love means"
These lyrics have been on my mind the past few weeks. They are from a Judds song that I have on my mp3 player and listen to while I take a shower every morning. I love the Judds but never really appreciated this song until recently.
My Mom has been having some health struggles lately that have made it almost impossible for her to do her normal house chores...simple things like vacuuming or even hanging up her clothes. I've been trying to drive the hour to her house once or twice a week to help out. This week I was feeling like maybe I was too busy or that it wouldn't be convenient for me to go. Paul and I share a car, so I have to work around his schedule. The girls miss their naps when we go so it sometimes makes for a stressful day. It's always easy to find excuses not to serve others, right? But when I listen to the words of this song, and many others, I'm reminded of the love I feel for my Mom. She has done so much for me, so of course I want to do all I can for her. How petty of me to worry about any of those things after all of the years that she has sacrificed her time and energy for me and my 8 siblings. It is a privilege and an honor to have this opportunity to serve her. Thanks, Naomi and Wynonna, for reminding me.

I didn't know you and the Judds were on a first name basis :) Thanks for sharing the sweet thoughts. Give your mom a hug for me.

I don't know about this whole blogging thing, but I just read your comments about helping me. Oh,honey, how you made me cry - good tears, of course. I love you so very much and I do appreciate the help you've been giving me.
